Re-Design Album

Im pretty sure a lot of us know who Ariana Grande is. This is a Re-Design of her cover for her first album called "Yours Truly". For this cover I looked for two pictures on the internet, one of Ariana and the other was the city behind her. For the front cover I Photoshop Ariana from her picture and placed her in front of the city picture. I gave her a shadow so she could pop out of the image, because the cut was really clean and obviously photoshop. For the city i just selected a part of the picture and made it the background. And for both i turned down the vibrance, avoiding making it black and white, but making sure it wasn't as bright as it could possibly be. I tried to achieve kind of a vintage look! For the album title I had to draw it out in real life then made a digital copy to work with on the computer. I used a tablet to get the effect that it has, ad i finished it by giving it a shadow just like i did with Ariana.
For the back, I went with a much simpler look. I used the gradient tool and I simply wrote down all of the songs that were featured in the album. I Also created the hearts and the bar code on Illustrator.

The Unnamed

First things first! I have no idea of what to name this big dude, I am sorry. Moving on, this is just a simple sketch. Its back story is that he was a criminal that died in jail. He was attacked by his cellmate with a crow bar. The hit was so hard that his skull broke. Ever since then he haunts the building were he was killed and every month, at midnight, he takes the life and skull of a different prisoner then attaches it to his back to keep it as a reminder of what happened to him. On another not... I hope i can one day make this character come to life... stay tuned for that!

The Powerful Anubis

Throughout the years many have heard of the legend of the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis. Many artist have tried to portray him, if you google "Anubis god of the dead" and go to images there will be millions of different concept arts and designs that portray this god. This is somewhat my version of him. I liked to do the elongated nose and tried to capture as much detail as i could by adding the texture to it! On the eyes I incorporated the eye of Horus  to make a little more emphasis to the Egyptian culture. Also i gave him some earrings and a top with a little snake. Unfortunately the sculpture broke during the molding process so this piece was lost forever!!

Demon Sculpture!

This is a demon!!! I decided to make this because... I just really wanted to sculpt a demon!! The whole thing is made out of clay. Underneath the sculpture there is a glass head that i use as a base for my sculptures. I created the horns by getting the shape first, then I used an exact knife to make all the little details in them. At first the smaller horns where not there, but after seeing a open spot and lots of mistakes about what to put in there to fill it up, I thought it would be a good idea to place the horns there to fill in the space. Everything around the eyes was made to get the expression going. I extended the eyebrow and created some depth between de eyes and the face. Also I tried to keep the whole horn theme going throughout the whole piece. After a long time of thinking, I decided to make the mouth go from where the original mouth starts, to an extended chin that i added. I made the decision to sculpt a nose above the original one so the proportions would look more correct because of the mouth. I did ended up molding and casting it, but I messed up the mold so when i tried to cast it there were many parts that had come out with very rough edges.

Makeup and apology.

Ok so if you look through the whole blog you will notice that my work usually is about everything and is done in many different ways! I've worked from charcoal to clay, and from pencil to paint! Well to be 100% honest none of those are my passion!! Not that i don't enjoy working with all of those mediums, but my true passion is in Special Effects Makeup.

Special effects makeup artist are the one who create creatures or characters in many different types of genres. From zombies to aliens, and from mythical creatures to awesome cyborgs or robots! This art involves many different skills. It involves painting, sculpting, casting, molding, and applying throughout the process. Like I said before when i was starting to take ceramics, you will now probably start to see more sketches, more sculptures, hopefully you will also get to see finished pieces already applied to people and what not!! I just wanted to make everyone aware of this!!

Also i would like to apologize for the lack of post during this summer! I'll be trying to get on top of that, but just incase no one knew this is my senior year in high school so there is a lot going on. But i won't let that stop me from keeping up with this awesome blog that is reaching its third year!!!

And P.S. if you have anymore questions about the whole Special effects deal, I highly recommend going to see face off on syfy. It is an amazing show and it pretty much explains everything, so go do that!!! (new episodes every tuesday at 9pm)
