Greed and Gluttony (Before Clay)

A little bit of a throw back!! This is the original sketch of what ended up being my ceramics piggy bank. In the original design its skin was made out of dollar bills and he had a bow tie instead of a regular tie. As I started sculpting the Piggy bank, some aspects kept changing. For example the feet of the original design were not going to be able to be a strong base for the 3 dimensional design. No smile was added and the hands and ears of the 2 dimensional design were slightly changed in angle or shape.

Greed & Gluttony (Piggy Bank)

I made a piggy bank! The whole piece was made with coils, first i did the body carving out the vest, then i worked the head from there. I attached the ears, feet, hands and tie once everything else was done. I used one coat of transpearl and two coats of emerald. I used green because i think is a good way to represent money and being greedy. For the vest i used both navy and sapphire, and for the eyes and tie i used black glaze. Since its a piggy bank i made a hole on his butt so I'm able to take the money out, because i don't want to end up having to break him. I also put a cork so the money wouldn't just fall out. I also made a tail with wire, making a "$" on the back.
