Greed & Gluttony (Piggy Bank)

 I made a piggy bank! The whole piece was made with coils, first i did the body carving out the vest, then i worked the head from there. I attached the ears, feet, hands and tie once everything else was done. I used one coat of transpearl and two coats of emerald. I used green because i think is a good way to represent money and being greedy. For the vest i used both navy and sapphire, and for the eyes and tie i used black glaze. Since its a piggy bank i made a hole on his butt so I'm able to take the money out, because i don't want to end up having to break him. I also put a cork so the money wouldn't just fall out. I also made a tail with wire, making a "$" on the back.

Coil Greek Pot

This is a coil greek pot, i did a wax cut on this piece, and i used brown slip for the figures on it, i tried to use a combination of emerald and leaf green but it didn't show up because of the slip. The interior was glazed with tawny, and the rest of the piece glazed with navy blue.

Spider Pinch Pot

My second pinch pot became a spider, glazed the whole thing with black and yellow for the eyes.

Pinch Pot

Its very simple, its a pinch pot with eyes and feet! I glazed it obviously with back for the feet and eyes and i used an aqua blue glaze.

3D!!??

So i know most of the people that have seen my work think that i'm just a 2D artist. Well guess what! i recently discovered that i can do both ceramics and sculpting!! So i've become both a 2D and 3D artist!! so sooner or later you'll be seeing a little more 3D art than 2D art. No worries i haven't give up on 2D art, i will keep posting 2D stuff from time to time, but lately i've been working hard on the 3D stuff so i really hope everybody will like it!

Rising Roots

And finally #7 On the series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique. On this painting I kind of did what i did with #2 but backwards, so i started with the solid red to set up the tone of the painting, then with purple, gold, and platinum paint, I "Jackson Pollock-ed" it. Now instead of leaving it, since i still had a lot of white space, i used a brush to mix all the paint that was around the red which gave it a nice flowing tone to the negative part of the painting. And at the very end i went back with black paint and did all the little "root-like" figures. Obviously it is called "Rising roots" because of the multiple little root like painting of it, but it is also called that, because by the time i reached #7 i felt my creativity rising again.

Crime Scene

#6 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that didn't follow Jackson Pollock's technique as much as the other ones. The process on this painting was not as big and complicated as the other ones, because i tried to go for a fresher yet similar style so this could be part of the series but not end up being a copy in different colors of the previous five. Like i mentioned before this had a simple process to it, i simply sprayed ink on the canvas and then created a sweeping-like motion with the ink, and at the end splattered the whole thing with a little bit of white. I came up with the name of "Crime Scene" because every time i look at it the first image that comes up to my mind is a crime scene, the sweeping-like motion as a slashing movement, whether it was from a claw or a sharp object, and the white being blood.

Shattered

#5 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique. This piece is called "Shattered" because at this point on the creation of the series my creativity was starting to shatter, because i created these 7 pieces in one to two weeks, so it became challenging to come up with pieces, and since this is number 5 i thought i created everything. But it also gain that name because behind the "gold-ish" paint it seems like there are pieces of broken glass. It kind of looks like a combination of abstracts #1 and #3.

Years Later

#4 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique, yet it is more of a "let it drip" technique. This piece was done spontaneously, with no thinking involved, and some how it turned into, what I think, is an updated version of the hearts of 2005 piece. I really like this painting because i feel that it kind of shows how much i've grown as a person and an artist over the years. It also connects with the theme of you never know what the future is holding for you.

T.T.T. (The Third Traveler)

#3 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique. In this piece I decided to go with a big contrast in between purple and orange to show the strong "later like", dripping figure that also occurs on the top left corner (its camouflage with the same pallet than the rest of the painting). The reason why i made this decision is to show the perspective of an only child feeling alone, whether its alone in his/her room or on a trip with their parents always being the "Camouflage/invisible" figure. this can also be viewed as the "awkward third wheel" that stand next to the couple or the B.F.F's.

Nature's path

#2 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique, this piece also followed a create, destroy, create process, meaning i created the background following Pollock's technique, then with white paint when over it and "destroy it" the created with black the contour lines and the dripping in the middle. It is called "Nature's path" because the color pallet that i used, resemble same colors that we see the most in nature (various tones of green/plants, yellow/sun light, and black and blue/moon light and night) and the white is the "path" per-say.

Material Explosion

#1 On a series of 7 abstract paintings that follow Jackson Pollock's technique, this abstract piece took about two hours overall, and this is what it turned out to look like. Most of it is paint, ink and couple of drops of hot glue. This piece is called "Material Explosion" because of the amount of materials, energy and spontaneous movement it contains.

Profile portrait Weaved

So this is one of three pieces, the portrait on the left is the original, and the one on the right is made out of two photocopies of the original and weave together to form the abstraction of the portrait.

Self-portraits!

 These are all self portrait, they were all made with pencil, they are meant to form one last piece when they are all combined, but while i finish that, these are the originals.

Also I'm going to be showing a recombination of each one of the self portraits.

The first one is the "emotion self portrait" where even though in the picture i was tired, came out to look more like a sadness pose, yet any emotion works for this!

In the second one, it was a simple "profile self portrait", my personal favorite.

And the last one was a "mirror self portrait", so i was looking at a mirror while I was drawing this one a little harder for me.

Photo-montage

 This was a really cool photo-montage. I took about 30 pictures of a reservoir. You can see the tripod on the deck. on the far end there is a little platform like thing that floats with 2 friends on it.
It really captures a good sense of space by showing the sides and the base but then it fades away into a normal picture.
If you see the second picture, you can see that it is different pictures above and bellow each other to create one image.

Pisces

This was drawn with pencil on a really small canvas. It is a representation of the zodiac sign pisces, yet this is not my zodiac sign, it was actually a gift for a really good friend!

Feather's brightness

This still life was done with charcoal, acrylic paint and pastels. The feather is illuminating that little area, unfortunately everything behind was white so there is no color. the feather was the one that was done with pastels, but instead of applying the pastel directly, with a blade i made it powder so it was easier to make more fine and delicate coloring instead of pressing it against the canvas.

Infinity spiral

This is an abstract sculpture. I made it with cardboard circles and little sticks of balsa wood, the circles keep spinning continuously on a infinity sign way, there is about 6 infinity signs, i used the balsa wood because the cardboard was to navy after the 4th layer.

Subtractive self-portrait

I did this subtractive self-portrait, by covering the whole piece of paper with compress charcoal and erase little by little where there were lights, so instead of drawing in the shadows is erasing so you get light. I put my face against the photocopy machine and then started!
