This was my mixed media.
I used leafs, pencil colors and paint to do it.
The phrase of my choice was "Even a cage bird is smart enough and it would be able to open the door to its cage with its beak. The dream of flying and breaking free its to great to resist.
my favorite part of this piece is the cage in the bottom right hand corner. i really like the way you did the shading on the green part. are the leaves above it supposed to be forming a tree?.. i like the quote too.
ReplyDeleteNice job! That is a good question Mandi - are the leaves forming a tree? It's great to see you using so many different mediums in this piece, especially the leaves! That was a really creative use of natural materials. Are the leaves supposed to connect to the leaves behind the cage? If so, it might have been more successful if you incorporated some more drawing with the green color pencil in between some of the leaves that might have made the drawing flow more instead of such a shift in color and texture. I agree with Mandi that the leaves behind the cage door are well drawn. You layered the color pencil nicely, creating some nice saturated color. Similarly, the painted blue stream balances that vibrant green out by also popping out. The choice to depict the sky and ground a little lighter adds some dimension to the piece as well. In the future you may want to think about how you could incorporate text a bit more successfully. Right now it's just centered with pencil around it. Perhaps the words could be coming across the page, written on top of the color pencil, or flying themselves? Just some things to think about. Nice job and your imagery works well with the quote and illustrates your idea well.
